How to preserve jackfruit

Jackfruits are in season and many are looking for ways to preserve them. Drying the jackfruit bulbs and seeds under the sun could help preserve them for up to a year. The sun dried jackfruit bulbs and seeds taste as amazing as the fresh ones.

In the year 2020, James Joseph invented jackfruit flour in the world’s history. From crackers, cookies, brownies & cake to making paratha, roti, string hoppers there are lots of dishes that can be made with jackfruit flour. It’s an easily replaceable flour which can be used to make literally any dish that you can imagine and make with wheat & all-purpose flour.

Tender jackfruit can be preserved in brine solution. This technique used to lengthen the shelf life of jackfruit and stop it from decomposing on its own. Store it in a cool and dark place away from sunlight. If preserved in the right condition, this pickled raw jack fruit can be stored for up to a one - two year.

The process of dehydrating of ripped jackfruit can be done using a dehydrator or an oven, and even by sun-drying in regions with suitable climates. Arrange the jackfruit slices in a single layer on the dehydrator trays, making sure to leave space between each piece for air circulation. Set the dehydrator to a temperature of around 135°F (57°C) and allow the jackfruit to dehydrate for 8-12 hours, or until it is completely dry and leathery to the touch.
